Save the date: Monday, March 7th. It's our next meeting, 6:45 pm, at the Uniondale Library. The topic's "update on streetscaping and beautification plans for Uniondale." Dr. Phillip Elliott, Nassau County Deputy County Executive for Minority Affairs, will be speaking as well.
Our mission statement for 2011 is "The People's Campaign", whose purpose is for the people in our community to join forces and take action on the issues of sanitation code enforcement, illegal housing and crime reduction.
We're Uniondale's oldest civic association. Our members include seniors, housewives, teachers, students, business owners, corporate managers, university staff, influential clergy, and elected officials-people from all walks of life. We're action oriented and committed to improving the quality of life in Uniondale.
We meet on the first Monday of every month at 6:45 p.m. at the Uniondale Public Library. Come out, meet your neighbors, and voice your concerns.

Our organization is a union of concerned citizens. Residents of Uniondale and Hempstead of all races, ages, and various walks of life have joined together to make our hometowns a better place to live and work.
Congratulations to James Broach, Past President of the Nostrand Gardens Civic Association, He was honored at the Town of Hempstead's Councilwoman Goosby's 9th Annual 2010 Kwanzaa Celebration with the "Umoja Award". Mr. Broach was recognized because he exemplified the principles and practices as defined by the Founder Dr. Mualana Karenga of "cultivating a sense of oneness and responsibility to each other, our people, humanity and the world".
